Brothers Xavi and Andreu Padró are reviving the indigenous vinyater grape, a once-forgotten variety from Tarragona’s Alt Camp region, cultivated by their family for five generations. Under their label LaRural, they produce LaRural Vinyater, a monovarietal orange wine embodying the terroir’s unique character. Grown on clay-limestone soils using organic, regenerative farming without pesticides or herbicides, the grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts, macerated on skins for six days, and bottled unfiltered and sulphite-free. This wine celebrates traditional viticulture, honoring the heritage of vinyater while exploring the evolving potential of natural wines, blending innovation with respect for the land and tradition.
